REPLACEMENT OF BUCKET-WHEEL EXCAVATORS in "Mini Maritza-Iztok" EAD
GRANT AGREEMENT №054, dated: 17TH of JANUARY, 2014, GRANT FUNDS provided by the KOZLODUYINTERNATIONAL DECOMMISIONING SUPPORT FUND
The coal mining company "Mini Maritza-Iztok" EAD implements a program for continuous rehabilitation and modernization of the heavy industrial mining equipment as to meet the increased lignite consumption and to ensure efficient production and energy independence of the country in its capacity of an important factor for the economic stability both on regional and national level. In this regard, the Company has developed and currently implements a project for “REPLACEMENT OF BUCKET WHEEL EXCAVATORS IN "MINI MARITSA-IZTOK" EAD, Bulgaria, (for short “Project”), which aims to increase the productivity and energy efficiency and respectively to reduce the energy intensity of the Company. Based on modernization and rehabilitation of the energy production through better using of the local energy resource – lignite coal, in practice the Project will contribute to ensure the security of energy supplies.
In addition to "Mini Maritsa-Iztok" EAD own funds, the Project is co-financed by grant funds, provided by the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF) for the closure and decommissioning of units 1-4 of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant (KNPP),whose Administrator is the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Project implementation is in compliance with “Environment and social policy" (ESP) of EBRD.
